He is adorable with a capital A. Yesterday, he was playing in the kitchen and saw his reflection in the oven door. (Usually it is covered with finger prints so I can see how he only just discovered this image.) He laughed, "Hnk, Hnk" as he refers to himself, pointing at the over door. Then he walked around the side of it and tried to open the door, obviously trying to let himself out of the oven.
He loves the train as it passes our house, "Train Track, Dada," he announces each time. He rides his push cars with the pleasure that amusement parks wish they could bottle and sell for their marketing strategy. He loves taking Turner to the bus each morning, yelling out "Bus, Bus, Bus" as it approaches. And he is delighted by "Jay-Jay." He looks for her whenever they are separated, pats the empty place on a couch demanding she sit with him, chases her around the Natick common and knows that she'll always have a truck packed for him in the bag she brings for every outing. And while he's very timid around anything or anyone new, once you've made it into the inner circle, you're very special to him. Most recently this was witnessed at Katie's graduation when he yelled out her name about 50 times as she walked by our seats, "K,K!" To our delight, he also calls her name, after he's asked for mama and dada in the morning and we've ignored him for a bit.
As for his eye, his vision is getting stronger - wearing the patch like the true pirate he is- and we'll know in August if we'll have a pair of glasses to keep after or a surgery to schedule to correct the muscles.
Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Welcome Summer!
