Star Wars and Lent Journey Together

We've entered the world of the Force with the velocity that only Anakin's podracer could achieve - for all of you that haven't read 10 books on Star Wars in the last few days - that means, FAST, really FAST. And its taken us to places I never thought Star Wars would go...

Turner learned this week how a baby is born after asking about Padme's birthing of Luke and Leia. There are droid midwives that led us into the conversation that ended with a real discussion of a baby entering the world.

And my favorite - a conversation about a moral dilemma - is it ever okay to kill someone? Like say, Maul or Darth Sidious? Turner's response:

"Well, mom, remember Jesus told us to defend ourselves."

I am using my theological studies right now, however, as I try to make connections for Turner between Lent and Star Wars - and I'm finding it quite easy and am inspired by it.

Henry is just so darn cute right now - smiling, laughing all of the time and still saying Mama (emphasis on the capital b/c I know he means me ;) and refusing most solid foods.

Jane - she's a riot (sometimes really a riot). I laughed when I found myself trying to explain that there were not really strawberries in the cereal box. Whoever thought of that picture on the cheerios box is not helping the moms of 2 year olds!

Jane - dressed herself to take her baby on a walk inside
