Jane's Big Day

Hi Everyone.

Jane went kicking and screaming into Kindergarten today.  Joking.

She said, "I feel great about it.  Actually, I feel like I'm already in first grade because I've had so much school already."  Note:  Jane attended one year of preschool 2 days a week.  She is going to take this place by storm as soon as she starts talking to people.   (She did talk to one friend today.)

Turner also promised to sit as close to her as he could in the lunch room - a totally unsolicited act of sibling kindness that does not pass every moment between Jane and T.  As it turned out, the allergy-free table got in the way of their plan, but Jane was delighted to see him.  She also figured out how to mooch off of his lunch account.  Seriously - she's really good at figuring out what she deems she needs.  Today it was chocolate milk.

"Mom, I just had to tell them my name and that my brother was Turner and they gave me the milk."  This was an answer to my question about how she bought milk because the kindergarten accounts have not been set up yet.

The most tender moment for Matt and I, besides our own good-byes, was a wrap my arms around you and squeeze hug that Jane planted on Hank when we arrived at the back of the school.  She looked around, put her book bag in line and then ran first to him.  I cried (am crying now) and Hank squeezed back.  When she got home they picked up right where they would have any other day.

Thanks for all the love today!
